A smallish pale girl appears on the system, moving around somewhat frantically near the various cabins with a look that is 1 part confusion, 1 part anxiety, and 4 parts annoyance and 4 parts whatever that look Mr. Scott had when Captain Kirk told him to rewrite the laws of physics in 15 minutes.

"Um, look. I'm sure whatever is going on is really important here but I was kind of in the middle of something back home. Something involving restoring a destroyed planetary power system before life support on something completely fails and given how I only sort of LOOKED at it for about a minute and most of the best parts are under the sea I really don't have a lot of time for this right now. After I get it up sure, bring me and MY SEIBZEHN here and we'll step on ANYTHING you want but you just brought me and I'm not so useful for squishing things alone."

"I understand you want to make it personal by saying my dad is one of the people here but I do kind of know my family, even if we were separated most of my life. Really, just let me finish my project and just ask, home will probably be unbearably dull once I get the Zohar reactor working again anyways so it'll be a welcome diversion."

Her face turns a bit more irritated at the next part.

"Unless this is some sort of gag Mr. One Eyed Pirate King! I know you're the one who bonked me over the head and drug me out before I could get a better look at that system to get it back online despite the city crashing. Don't think for one minute that if this is some sort of gag and I find you behind it I won't BEAT THE EVER-LOVING SNOT OUT OF YOUR ONE REMAINING GOOD EYE!"

Later Maria is sitting by the water looking miserable. She's playing with her watch, pushing every damn button on the thing.

"Yeah yeah... No carrier. Seibzehn, I know you have to have power. Please come in. Dad had to have put in his own reactor or something. C'mon, you can't do this to me! You always come. Maybe some sort of jamming I need to figure out how to defeat. Oh who are you kidding Balthasar, the power grid is down and you're some place weird."

She buries her head in her knees and keeps pressing the button getting lower with every non-receptive beep she gets.

Okay… [Solaran? Never heard of that. Just the concept of having different worlds is still confusing to Akihiko.] They might be. Call them out – see if they respond.

We’re all being trained for something. [Like an upcoming war.] In the meantime, we’re preparing for a trip to New York City next week. Whether or not you wanna believe your dad is a god, that’s your call.

[He kind of has a blank stare on his face.] Gear? Like, a cog?

"Right. Gears aren't big in the Earthbound cities. No, its a humanoid weapon. About 28 sharls big and 46 kahns fully loaded. We took on the city of Solaris alone. Never heard of New York though. Is that in Aveh or Kislev? Can't be that big if I've never heard of it."

Oh, it’s a weapon. [He finally nods in understanding. ~~Sorry for his derp.~~] Then that definitely won’t work here. None of our abilities from our original world are effective in this one. It seems like the gods… sealed them away, somehow.

New York is one of the states in the United States, over on the North American continent. I’ve never heard of Aveh or Kislev myself… Are those countries, or…?

She lets out a sigh as her bangs fall over her eyes.

"I've never heard of the United States or the North American continent so I'm guessing this is a different planet and I've been kidnapped again. No idea why though they can't blackmail my dad to make another super weapon, he's dead."

"Oh yeah, Aveh and Kislev are countries. Two of the four ones from my world."

…Again? [Akihiko’s eyes widen a little.] Did you get kidnapped because of your father?

So your world only has four countries, huh? [That seems kinda small.] There’s a lot in this one. My friends and I are from Japan, which is on the other side, past the Pacific Ocean.

"Yeah, when I was a baby. Mom and I were kidnapped, they made him build my Seibzehn. Boring story but I've broken out of flying cities, I'll figure something out."

She shakes her head.

"Well 2 on the land, and 2 flying nations. I guess there were more but 500 years of war kind of got most of them trampled. Haven't heard of the Pacific Ocean either."

[He frowns with sympathy.] Well… if you can find a way to get outta here, you’ll have our support. [Assuming they don’t get eaten by monsters.]

Sheesh… Why were they fighting for so long? [He shakes his head.] I’d have to show you on a map of this world, since it’s so different from yours.

"Cause Solaris kept the war going to get data to develop their 'perfect' weapons of war. It was all pretty sick."

[That reminds him of the experimentation on Shadows. He sighs a bit.] So it was in pursuit of power… Hmph. Good thing it's finally over, then.

"Yeah, just most of the planet is dead because of it."

[Ouch...]

...Can you guys rebuild?

"Deus was the main planetary generator before it was driven mad and started mutating people left and right. We went and destroyed it."

So then... what source do you use now?

"THAT'S WHY I NEED TO GO BACK AND REBUILD THOSE PARTS!"

She flails madly.

O-Oh... Sorry.

H-Hey, calm down... Isn't there anyone else in your world that could do it? Other engineers or something?

She shakes her head.

"Doc won't. Really he should be doing it but he won't. Something about us being better off for it and other nonsense."

What? That’s stupid. If this is necessary for the survival of your planet, then it should be top priority. Who the hell is this guy, to think he’s too good to do it himself?

"That's just it, he says we need to move on on our own. I say we need to get stable then worry about that nonsense. But he's older and everyone listens to Doc."

Isn't that his planet too? Unless he has some kinda escape plan - but that's be pretty damn cowardly.

Older doesn't necessarily mean wiser. Those people should think twice before blindly accepting everything he says.

"I think it has to do with not wanting to use anything related to Deus. I really can't say. I don't know!"
