[Since breakfast, Minato has had some ideas. And some problems have formed in his original ideas. And generally, he's just been thinking. And avoiding the goddamn lava wall. But mostly thinking. He's come to at least a few conclusions.]

I was wondering if anyone in Cabin 6 could help me with something. I want to know some of the old stories of the gods. If we're going to meet them, we should know more than just their names. [And they should know if the gods have ever been defeated and if anyone has ever survived the gods deciding it was time for them to be killed just because they were kids of the powerful ones.]

[Another moment.]

Does anyone else know how to control the darkness? [That makes it seem like he's evil oh my god. He should've found a better way to say it.] It could be useful, after all.

[He's just trying to figure out what cards he might have in his hands if it does end up that the gods decide to murder them.]

We should get to know Manhattan. If things go wrong.

[No offense to Zeus and Poseidon kids, but these are the people he feels he has a moral obligation to keep not dead.

Minato has never been one for depending on deities to get things done. And he's not entirely comfortable with the idea that he has a dad who hasn't even bothered to do more than cause a blackout to greet him. But he is praying with all of his everything to his father right now that things don't go wrong. Yes, he knows the irony of praying to the God of the Underworld that he and his friends don't die.]

I've got darkness powers, too. And I can control the earth. We can practice together with the darkness stuff...maybe we could cause a huge blackout and I could make a hole in the earth for us to hide in.

It could work for a while. [But how long could they stay underground? If the darkness could cover them at all, it would have to run very close to the time they were expected at the Empire State Building. Or they'd have to be in a tunnel and underground to begin with.]

There are others I promised to look out for.

That's okay. I may be the littlest child of Hades but that doesn't mean I'm helpless.

I never thought you were. [He knows Ken too well to think of anyone small as helpless. He's just also the kind of person who likes to keep an eye on others.] Geokinesis is pretty useful.

I'll have to practice with it some more...maybe where Chiron won't see, just in case. It might be better if it seems like I can't do much with it.

[Being underestimated is useful. Especially when he's got way less power to play with and he's dealing with beings far more powerful than himself. He'd also like to keep his half-siblings alive if at all possible.]

If you have someone come with you, the woods might be a good place to try. [It's secluded and it will also help him get a better layout of the camp if they don't get killed and have to play capture the flag again.]

Will you come with me so I can practice? We can try out our darkness powers together, too.

[It's best to know what they can do in tandem beforehand, rather than test their limits while gods are out to kill them, after all.]

[Oh.

A chance for sibling bonding? He'll take it. Though for a second he looks positively stunned to be asked.]

Of course. Two are stronger than one, after all.

And practice makes perfect!

[Not that this is enough time to really perfect their darkness control, but with work, they can refine it. It helps that he's quite knowledgeable when it comes to magic. He's already done fairly well as far as figuring his powers out with trial and error.]

[As has Minato, with his tiny blackouts where he feels like it.]

We'll figure out a use for it--Ange can travel through shadows.

Can she bring anyone with her through the shadows?

[Because that sounds like a great escape plan if that's the case.]

I'll ask her. I don't know.

It would be pretty useful. I wonder how it would work with our darkness powers. Maybe we could make her stronger.

[It's hard to say. This magic doesn't operate like the magic in his own world, although at least his understanding of magic is helping him understand these Hades-given abilities now..]

We can give her the means to travel. [To start with, anyway.]

I wonder if that would make it easier for her to bring us with her.

We'd have to practice. [A beat.]

There's a lot of us. It could hurt her.

That's why we should test it while we're at camp. I mean, it's totally normal to practice with powers at camp anyway, so...
