002 [Video] Filtered to all children of Hades

[Phibrizzo was careful to pay the appropriate homage to Iris before sending out his message. The small boy looks determined as he addresses his half-siblings.]

If our father is one of the Big Three, I really think he should have his own cabin, don't you?

[He is pointedly not talking about the whole 'might be killed' thing, but paying homage to the god of death probably can't hurt, all things considered. Especially since he's also family.]

There might be a reason he doesn't.

[He's not arguing. He kind of agrees. But if they're gonna build one, they might as well find out why Hades doesn't even get a consolation prize after being kicked off Olympus of a cabin at a summer camp.]

The cabins are for each of the gods who live on Mount Olympus, but if his brothers each have one, our father should have a cabin, too. Taking care of death and the underworld is a big job!

It is. Big jobs don't always get respected.

[By which he means.

We should probably see if our father wants to kill us first.]

That's true. So what do you think about making a cabin for our father?

[He's certainly not adverse to the idea. A moment, and he shrugs.]

We should make sure it's decorated with all of his symbols.

That's right. Some of them are willing to share their books.

[He's actually gotten acquainted with Ami already and played up his cutely inquisitive act. Knowledge is power.]

We could probably learn a lot about him.

[Since he hasn't said hi or anything.]

I think it would be a good idea. I mean, if we might die, it's smart to try and get the Lord of Death to like us.

... Maybe we can run away to the Underworld.

[He's only fractionally serious.]

Maybe we should. If he claimed us, then we must matter to Father at least a tiny bit.

[Give Minato a moment. He's kind of reeling from the use of "Father" as a direct title. There's a difference between knowing someone is your parent and recognizing it, and when Phibrizzo uses the term rather than "our father" (which shouldn't be any weirder, but he can deal with it because he knows Hades is their father, at least biologically) or "Lord of the Dead" or even "Hades," it takes Minato a second to let it sink in again.

He has a father. Who's pretty much as not dead as you can get, being immortal. He has siblings and that's weird. There's a difference between knowing and recognizing.]

Do we know where it is?

[He pushes back thoughts like "He put us directly in the line of fire."]

...no, but I bet if we find enough information we can guess from there.

Maybe we can ask Chiron.

Maybe. I mean, we've got a better reason to be curious about it than anyone else.

Especially since we won't get to see him. He's not an Olympian.

It can't hurt to ask. It's not like we're going to just grow wings and fly there or anything.

We could probably take a train, though.

Then we should definitely take a train to get as close as we can.

I wonder if the dead can do what we ask them to. I can summon spirits, but I haven't tested them.

I bet they would for something like this. I mean, it's a show of respect to the lord of the dead.

They'd better, or I'll send them to somewhere worse than under the ground.

[ She nearly grimaces; she doesn't want to be the big sister. She wants to be the little sister, to her brother, who's no longer her brother. It's a pang of guilt and depression that she supresses. ]

People say I can be pretty scary. I don't do a lot to dispel the rumors.

Good to meet you. Is it just the three of us right now?

I'm not sure. We didn't sort through who was who's kids at that meeting.

We should start making a list of names and ages. It might be important to know in the future.

Maybe we'll have more siblings than we realize.

Yeah, or more of them might get claimed later.

[His real age? How does he even classify that anymore? An old soul? Eight years old seems like the right number right now, though.]

I'm eight years old. I think I'm the youngest kid at camp.

[And quite possibly the oldest at the same time.]

Maybe. We'll have to wait and see.

[ The more people that get claimed though, the more she has to take care of. The more she has to protect. And that's bothersome, and worrying. ]

I'm eighteen. [ She kind of wishes she was eight, though. And she's six at heart. ]

At least I know how to read pretty well...if I can study old magic textbooks, anything else will be a lot easier.

[Which is one of the only things that he has going for him. He'll have to use his head and his past knowledge because the other kids all have an edge on him physically, being bigger and stronger.]

[ She refrains from saying that anyone who doesn't know how to read at his age probably will never learn, and instead redirects. ]

...Anything can be learned from books if you pay enough attention. I should read as well.

I wonder if there's anything like the Claire Bible in this world.

Claire bible? What's that?

It's supposed to be the source of all knowledge - it was created by one of the gods of my world. It's carefully guarded by dragons.

[Thoughtfully.]

Of course, it's only going to have as much knowledge as the god who created it...

...It sounds like a witch's grimoire. But the witches guard their own books, because there's no one better suited to it.

The Aqualord was defeated in battle a long time ago, so the dragons protected it instead.

I have no idea who the Aqualord is. Care to explain?
