--Ahh?! It's working, right?
[Say hello to a pair of big, brown eyes with even more color running through them. Whoever this woman is, she's surprised, a reaction hardly unheard of... though how she's pleasantly surprised, as she pulls back wearing a wide and inviting smile, could prove a little unique. Why is she this happy after being brought to a weird new place? Shouldn't she be wary?!
Well, yes, but she's also Maya Amano. And shethinks she is is broadcasting a message right now, so onto more important things!]
Wow, you're amazing, Iris! I guess your true form is like that, huh? Thanks so much for doing this!
[At least she's polite. The pendant is lifted a bit, revealing a completer picture of the woman staring up into it. Already clothed in an orange t-shirt and jeans that somehow, somehow flatter her, there's nothing too much out of the ordinary aside from... the giant white owl sitting on a glove over her arm... but, hey, the campers who've been here longer than she has have probably seen stranger. Right? Right. She blinks, then keeps talking with her best friendly grin -- and friendly voice -- on full display. Relaxed. Purposeful.]
Anyway, there's no time like the present to introduce myself. I'm Maya Amano... or at least I was called that back at home, and everyone here can feel free to keep it to Maya, to make it easier. ["big sis" and "mommy" and other variations may or may not come later] I arrived earlier today, so I regret to say I'm not quite caught up to speed yet! Would anyone who's been in Camp longer care for some sharing and caring, maybe answer a few questions for me?
[Lady is a reporter, after all, and that whole "seeking information" part of her life doesn't just go away no matter where she is. Maya laughs lightly, the owl (evidently more dignified than she is), shaking on its perch with it but really not looking out of place otherwise. You can practically hear the tolerance.]
Or you can always just stop and say hello, too! Introduce yourselves back! I want to know all your names, and I want to know what you all look like! There's no denying I could use the practice with this fancy pendant, but you should really come right up to me in person if you see me around, okay? Let's make things a little more friendly and a little less tough on Iris...! Ciao!
[[OOC: Maya's IC arrival is dated on the morning of June 2nd! If you'd like to action tag, you can just assume she's wandering someplace all over. c:]]

You're right, huge difference. You probably have your life in order, married, all ready to start a family! No wonder you think of me as a so young. It's because you're old, right?
no subject
[Lifting up the hand of her free arm, Maya waves it as if to brush off any offense she may have unintentionally caused, smiling in apology. This other Maya is young to her, there's no helping that... Though now she thinks on it, there were more likely to be childre-- younger people here than campers in their twenties, right? It would only make the most sense. And she was told there'd be younger people around. She's probably the odd one out.
Aside from that, she is very not married and not ready to start a family, even if she does have her life in order. (Relatively.) So:]
Come on, I'm not too old, am I? [wait] Well, I guess I could seem that way...
no subject
*Maya, in spite of what she said, was aware that early twenties was hardly old. It might be past the point where she's either on her way to a career or not, but the Matlin sisters were very good at planning ahead.*
But I guess you're not that old. It isn't like you're twenty five yet.
But don't just dismiss me because I'm fourteen.
no subject
Hmm, that's true. I don't know if they want me to play a role like a counselor here, but if they do, there's no one more suitable? Maybe? [She laughs. A small joke as she stands with her arms crossed.] ... And I'm very sorry if it seemed like I was dismissing you. I really didn't intend to at all. Your age is no reason not to have respect for you, and your capabilities-- The brightest people out of all of us are the youngest of us, don't you think?
no subject
The brightest people?
*Maya felt just a bit patronized, but she also didn't think youth brought any extra skill to it. Youth simply meant you had the least baggage weighing you down, less mistakes, less regrets... at least, it did.*
Being young just means you don't know what there is to fear yet. You have less doubts, that's all... and everyone watches to see how you react to everything the first time.
no subject
[Her nod is equally genuine, confident.]
You're exactly right. You don't know everything there is to fear, you have less doubts... It might be true everyone watches to see your reactions, but that's just because everything is still so new to you, and there's so much more to it. You're able to see things with fresh eyes in a way the rest of us can't, and sometimes that unjaded perspective is what's needed most of all!
no subject
*Wow you picked the exact wrong topic to talk about here.*
You've got the wrong girl, if that's your definition of brightest you should go somewhere else.
And none of this answers how we separate us.
no subject
Did I... Did I say something to upset you again? Maya?
[She's no stranger to the fact young people can go through quite a lot. For that matter, Maya is pretty remarkably "unjaded" herself as an adult. She still didn't mean any offense.]
no subject
no subject
... All right. Back to how to separate us. How about... mm, different ways for each of us to be called. I got here after you, so I could have to use my last initial! Maya A. Or Maya 2? [She smiles wide now, clearly aiming for humor.] Old Maya?
no subject
...I guess if you're Old Maya, I'm little Maya. Because-
*Maya glances down at her chest.*
I'm not quite as developed.
no subject
Something tells me you wouldn't like that "little" before your name, anyway.
no subject
*She's been called worse, and at least she picked the name herself. It was hers, and that's what she wanted.*
no subject
[It only takes Maya a second to see it'll work out for her.]
Fine. Little Maya it is. And I can be Big Maya. Or Old Maya.
no subject
*It was better than chicken cutlet.*
This should work out fine then, old Maya.
no subject
Just checking! If you're with it, I'm with it!
