I'm kind of freaking out here.

So I've been having weird dreams lately about mechanics and plans and all of this. Today I found myself working on the heating coil of our stove in my Cabin and turned it into a Air Conditioner. I don't know how I did that, how it happened and certainly had no idea how I was able to cook something on a broken stove as well... that I fixed.

And to boot I've been coming up with plans, ideas. I've been trying to write them down and I can't, like they're THERE but I can't get it OUT OF MY HEAD.

I'm trying to go for a walk and clear my head but I keep looking at things and going "You know, that could be turned into a steam-powered ballista"--NO BAD AKANE!

"My condolences." Moving over to sit next to her, Akane sighs. "I guess... it's weird, but I keep looking at gloves and stovepipes and stuff. I get the general idea of what it's trying to tell me, but something about drawing blueprints and I freeze up."

"Not everybody is good with plotting and theory."

She sits up and shakes her head.

"I'm going to guess you haven't spent a lot of time in an armory or hangar before?"

"I've never spent time in those period. We don't have much of a use for machinery in my family line of work. We're cooks," she clarified. "The most we've done is repair the stove and even then dad calls someone to do that."

Maria nods a bit.

"I was a combat pilot back home but since my Seibzehn was custom I had to build all the parts from scratch. Do you have a notebook or something?"

"Combat pilot? Like planes or something? And yeah, I got a notebook." She held out the scribbles she had. Some of them looked like nonsense, but there was a couple of rough outlines for various items.

"Well, robots, not planes. Let me take a look at that."

Maria peered over the designs and started making changes, erasing bits of nonsense and drawing attention to some of the more secure of the rough outlines.

"These aren't bad for a start. You may want to develop a planning code so you know what squiggles represent what parts."

She moves to a clear page and starts mapping out a schematic for a simple coal burner powered steam cannon.

"Something like this. See the fire is listed here, the water reservoir release system is listed in this side area but represented here."

"Robots huh... sounds like Yayoi's thing to be honest."

Leaning over, Akane nodded, somehow being able to follow it. "And if I put this here, this chamber thing... can I add some kind of cartridge system to store explosive power in it?"

She nods at that and points to a different area.

"Yes but if you put it here you can double the power, it will cost you some boiling time though."

She points in a different area.

"And if you just enlarge this area instead you can use the steam as the primary weapon."

"Huh... it's weird that I'm getting all of this now. It's like I've got actual perspective on it. Or rather understanding it."

Folding her arms, Akane thought for a moment before remarking, "Do... you think it's possible to build this into a glove? Like some kind of pressurized gauntlet with explosive rounds or something?"

"Hrm. Not using steam. There's no way you could miniaturize it to glove size and even if you could you'd burn yourself. Maybe with a chemical reaction. You're looking for a glove that fires bullets or some other projectile?"

"Well... this sounds weird but... back home, I used to fight with my hands and feet, y'know, punching and kicking. But occasionally I'd wreath my arms and legs in fire, and use that for extra impact. I also had a primary attack which I'd generate a ball of flame and smash it down at the opponent."

Akane let out a exasperated sigh. "It's probably not possible here, even with my fire abilities. I had this weird idea that I could build something to let me do it."

"Fire abilities? Er... I don't know about that, but if you're looking for a combustible glove. Yeah I think we can do that. Steam isn't the answer though. May have to use some sort of oil or napalm."

"That might burn through the glove though..." remarked Akane. "I wouldn't know how to get it to work either."

"There are burn suits we had for working on gear reactors. They were good up to 90% immersion in flame so if we could simulate that material we could probably fire proof the glove. The other idea would be to forgo the fire and transfer it to an electric charge. Easier to contain, and a good shock can send someone flying pretty far."

"I don't really want electricity though, that's Yayoi's department."

Getting up, Akane messed up her hair and groaned. "If there was something I could do, something like some kind of inspiration to... to..."

And then, it just clicked. "Hey... what about a hammer system... like... an impact, and a barrel, not a gun but... an impact punch hammer thingy? Like..." Akane mimed the motion, holding her arm out, and made a cocking motion on her forearm. "Something to lock a cartridge in, push it out, and it expels a propellant which could be set on fire..."

"That's not hard. The real issue there is making sure you are strong enough not to break your arm. Most propellants are flammable if you want that effect."

"It might work, with my fighting style. But I worry since I don't have my super strength like before--"

Akane then leaned on the chair -- and it shattered into a million pieces, leaving her holding sawdust. "... never mind. I think we should get started working on this."

Maris just stares at the chair and pulls the cover over her head.

"Do you know anything about the practical aspects too, or just theory?"

"I don't know much about practical, but if we work together, we might be able to help each other. Maybe I can help at least with the ideas?"

Muttering can be heard under the blanket pile for a second.

"We're going to need to measure your punch strength first. So we can tune the hammer to be at least that strong. Do you know how strong you are?"

"Back home I was strong enough to block a punch from a monster ten times my size. So we should measure this to make sure of what I can do." mused Akane.

"Funny how it decides to show itself now."

"May need a pressure jack or some sort of scale. Don't really have the equipment here to do it precisely. I'm going to have to get out of bed for this, aren't I?"

"Well if you want. I mean, we're just brainstorming right?" Gingerly Akane found another chair and sat down carefully.

She pokes her head out and shakes it a bit.

"Now understand, I only know how to do this with lifting equipment, but generally we need to know how much pressure you put out. I think Rico used a heavy bag and a trainer, but the physical stuff is outside of my training. Once you get that in a quantifiable number, we can pick an accelerant to project the hammer forward to accent that punch. Then we can work on a housing that can handle the stress of it."

"I only got part of what you said, but I somehow understood it all. Okay, so I need to figure out how strong I am before we build this. Got it." Akane nodded, folding her arms. "Sounds great to me."
